Digital Story 3

This is digital story three. In this video we had to choose a current event and write the story from some other persons perspective. basically we had to make believe a character who was actually there when the event happened. I chose to make the story on ferry crash. i hop you guys like the video and tell me to what i should improve for further videos.

Digital story 3 narrative

It was a bright saturday morning, I was very excited to go to the city as it is a big part of New York. I got up took a shower and quickly ran out of the house to get to the ferry. Now i was on the bus and shockingly i was falling asleep. I was bored out of my mind so i took out my ipod and i started listening to random songs. Finally it was time to get off the bus. The one thing that i hate the most is getting late and missing the bus and the ferry, and so the ferry was about to leave and the door was about to close, but amazingly i made it to the ferry. On the ferry i was sitting at the outer part so i can enjoy the view of the ocean. Everything was going smoothly until the ferry started to move in a very unusual way. this happened around 3 o clock, the ferry started to make weird noises, people inside started to panic  and everyone started yelling wondering what is wrong with the ferry today. as i was sitting outside the movement of the ferry was not normal and instead of going straight it was going to the left towards this wooden pillar. suddenly it crashed into the pillar and people at the front got injured very badly. thank god i was sitting at the back where i didn't get a single scratch on me. finally the helicopters arrived, people came to help, and i went home as soon as i got off the ferry. I  turned on my tv to watch the news and i saw that thousands of people died, and of them was my friend who i was not able to see for a long time.

Future new contest video

Reflection: This video is different then what we did before. This time the story is based on the genocide in Darfur. In my video you will see images and the conditions of people in Darfur right now. The reason why I chose this topic was to show people that what is going over there is wrong and mostly to make them aware of the event. If you feel there was something missing in my story or overall i didn't do a good job with it let me know so i can fix it, also i would encourage you to help them.

Digital story 2 Narrative

A new century, a new year, and a new generation has come, but a genocide continues. This time Darfur is the victim of this nightmare. Each day by day thousands of people are dying, while we are sitting and just watching the incident on our television like a new movie. Each year a devastating event happens surprisingly and all the innocent ones are killed in a snap. This genocide has been going on since 2003 and happens to continue till today in 2010. The government of the country is taking no action, they are being neglected. No one is there to hear their voices. If you Google images and look at them, you can literally feel their suffering and pain. The reason why i am doing this story is to show my perspective on violence, how people use it for so many wrong reasons, and tell them the reality of other people's lives around the world. This can also happen in our country, because you never know what will happen, where it will happen. There is no time limit for violence. Not only genocide should be focused as or seen as a violent act , but there are also many other acts such as a war, strikes, open firing, dictator ship, and all the negative acts that can destroy our country or even remove the power of our identity. My main message through this story is to tell people to wake up, and realize that this is the real world, and still deep down in other parts of the world people are dying. Please raise your voice for those who are not getting the chance to say so, and just take a minor action, because one small step can make a huge difference. we can do this by joining or supporting organizations like www.helpdarfurnow.org/ or we can make donations and also we can arrange a meeting with the leader of the country and talk to them about why you are not helping the citizens of your country.

Digitales Reflection

Reflection:
Out of all the stories above I thought that Abdi-Q's story what's going in our world reflects the most as a global component. I chose his story because through his story he is revealing a message which is to bring peace around the world. also his story was very realistic showing the true struggles and hardships of people living in poverty or violence. Even he lived through these obstacles when he was a young boy. When he came to America he got inspired from his mother, his life and his teachers who taught him that everyone is equal. Now he works around the country spreading the message of peace to everyone. This was my view about his story , but according to the Asian society graduate portfolio his story has reached all aspects of the graduate portfolio. His story has skills that are successful in a global environment, because he shows people from all kinds of cultures and connects them all in one story. He is also connected to the world because he works with people from different cultures as well. Abdi-Q is also ready for college because he works with people internationally and also he is an adult who has the skills and knowledge to be ready for college, but he already has a job and he is a college graduate which you can tell when you look at his story and read his reflection and also he has the knowledge required in the global era as once again he contributes his work and skills globally.

Digital Story 2 Pre-Writing Worksheet

Name:  Nida Hussain                                                                                          21st century Technology
4/12                                                                                                                          Digital Story 2

Introduction to Digital Story 2

1) What is your Topic:
 Genocide in Darfur

2) What is the time period of story:
 2003-2010

3)List the major points, facts, events, people, and/or ideas of your story:

People of Darfur, violence, Brutality,  Harshness, and change.

4)Why do you feel this story is important to tell?
This story is important to tell because genocide in my opinion is a very unecessary reason to kill people especially when they have done nothing wrong, and no population deserves to be eliminated just because of who they are. Also this issue has been going on since 2003 and no one is even trying to help them out. This is why probably if i make a digital story on this event people might realize how important this issue is and together find a way to stop it

5) What are some challenges of telling this story? (hard to find information, personal, etc)

I really don't think that i will find anything challenging, but most probably images or some information might be hard to find.

6) List some images that come to mind when you think about this story?

Destroyed houses, the area itself, people dying, fighting, killing each other, and poverty.

7) How does your project relate to our CSI Graduate Portfolio?

My project relates to our CSI Graduate Portfolio by me sharing this story and reflecting on how i am aware of global issues and also have the skills to relate with people from other cultures and give them respect and understand them, also i am living as a literate 21st century citizen because i emphasize the use of logic and theory and not mostly but somewhat skills in other areas of the graduate portfolio which guides me for the real world.

Digital story 2 Topic

Since world war one and till today war has played a major role in our history. It is violent and brutal, millions of innocent citizens are killed and they are targeted as individuals, together as a group or they are killed because they belong from a certain race, religion, nationality or simply because of their gender. This results in a genocide where people in Darfur a region in Sudan are facing. This region is home to racially mixed tribes of settled peasants, who identify as African, and nomadic herders, who identify as Arab. Majority of the people in both groups are muslim. In this war African farmers and others in Darfur are being killed by the janjaweed, which is a government-supported militia recruited from local Arab tribes. This group has caused poverty and it is destroying the country where the government is taking no control, but they are neglecting the citizens. This war has been going on since 2003, and since then 400,00 people have died, and 2,500,000 people have been displaced. More than one hundred people continue to die each day, and five thousand die every month. It is true that history repeats itself, first it was the holocaust then came the genocide in Bosnia, Cambodia, Rwanda, and now Darfur. We should all help and take action against this harsh and unnecessary move which can cause chaos for years in ones country. I chose this topic because i think this event is crucially important, it can not be ignored and people need to understand and be aware of this act because people dying and being eliminated is harmful, painful, and it creates more problems later in the future.

Graduate Portfolio Reflection-story one

In CSI High School since freshmen year we are assigned with the graduate portfolio project. This year we have to do it as well. Now as a sophomore i have 21st century communication as one of my classes, which is a very advantageous class because through the course of this class we can learn many new and different ways of using technological tools. Recently we finished a project for this class which was based on our identity. It was an easy project and i had a good time doing it. There were many elements in my video that reflect some portions of the graduate portfolio. One thing that is reflective of the portfolio is being culturally aware. You can see that in the beginning of my video where i used the image of a Pakistani flag to show my heritage. I also showed a picture of the mohatta palace which is a famous old palace in Pakistan. My culture reflects my daily life and this is why i understand the importance and respect of other cultures as well. Other areas that present the point of graduate portfolio is being aware of world events and global dynamics. this can be seen in my project where i used an image of the earth melting because of global warming. To me being aware of global issues is important as many of them affect us and all the countries together which puts our life and everyone else in danger. Actions are being taken against the hazardous events to come now or in the future and we should continue this spirit and energy throughout the  future. Taking a technology skill developing class has helped me out alot and this is why i have become a successful 21st century thinker. Living in this century people have come a long way ahead of their time which has made me a broad and logical thinker. As a teenager i think as a 21st century thinker when it comes to my studies. I apply method, logic, and theory. Going through the experiences and learning enormous things will definitely make me academically prepared, because throughout my whole life i will be needing technology skills and the strategy to apply them. Right now i am learning a lot in this class and i hope to remember them as i graduate and go to college and later on when i start working and have the knowledge to work there.

Digital Story One

My Reflection:
It is sometimes hard to express your identity and certain things that evolve around you, but this project gave me a chance to explore my identity in a different way which i had a good time doing it. Through this project people can really see who i am, and besides this i got to experience working on something new and made me more aware of the advantage of technology as this is what our basic goal is to learn in this class. I hope who ever watches my video enjoys it and for now this how i feel about myself and if you are confused about yourself as a person or individual i can suggest you to make a video like we did in this class and that will probably clear some confusion about yourself and also from people around you.

script one

My identity in the 21st century

My identity can be defined in numerous ways, but there are only certain things that truly define who i am. I am sixteen years old and I live in Staten island new york Originally my parents are from Pakistan and they chose to come to America. Me and my siblings are all born here. Since then we did a lot of going back and forth and now currently we are living here. Moving here has changed me, i have become confident, independent, and for now i know what i want. Ethnicity and religion also play a very important role in everyone's life, and so i am a Pakistani Muslim. Today living as a Muslim is different then before. Still those issues and conflicts are there for Muslims but as a young Muslim girl now its different as things have progressed in the past years. As people are becoming more aware and concerned, women are now realizing their importance and strength for self determination. Now women are strong minded and have learned to make decisions for themselves when it comes to certain things. As people know its important for Muslim women to wear the veil, i started wearing it when i was 14. When i started high school i realized that i didn't know why i was truly wearing it or for who i was doing this and from that day till now i don't wear it i do respect it but i know for a fact that i will wear it one day.

Besides your culture other things that express your identity are objects and the environment your surrounded by. Technology also describes my identity. As this is the 21st century many people are exploring the fact that technology is becoming useful and better, and so technology is a part of my identity it is the concept of my generation. Now almost everything is done on the computer and this is where facebook comes in which today is one of the most used networks where people are logged in for hours. I like facebook as well and use it a lot. I have many interests, likes, and dislikes and food and music are some of them. Everybody loves to eat and listen to music so do I. People living in new york are aware of many different cultures, which is an advantage so they can eat whatever they want, this is why i love living in new york and also because of the mighty city. For my future i don't know what i want to do but one thing is for sure that i want to travel the world and do things that i was afraid to do or never had a chance to do them. I know there will be humongous changes in my life but i hope they all turn out to be good. For now this is my identity and a reflection of who i am or where i come from, lets see what the future has planned for me.

Nida

My generation can be defined through many things but mostly it is technology. People are evolving around it. Life for people is much more easier now. By going on the computer they can do many things like read magazines, a book or simply contact their relatives who live far away. I feel that now people are becoming aware and concerned. In my generation people understand the use and importance of technology and have proved it by inventing useful tools like ipod and laptops. I think people in my generation have accomplished many things especially with technology. Now people are looking for a fresh start which is change. Best example of that would be Obama becoming president. People in my generation have come so far with technology I wonder what tools will be invented in the next generation.
