My identity in the 21st century
My identity can be defined in numerous ways, but there are only certain things that truly define who i am. I am sixteen years old and I live in Staten island new york Originally my parents are from Pakistan and they chose to come to America. Me and my siblings are all born here. Since then we did a lot of going back and forth and now currently we are living here. Moving here has changed me, i have become confident, independent, and for now i know what i want. Ethnicity and religion also play a very important role in everyone's life, and so i am a Pakistani Muslim. Today living as a Muslim is different then before. Still those issues and conflicts are there for Muslims but as a young Muslim girl now its different as things have progressed in the past years. As people are becoming more aware and concerned, women are now realizing their importance and strength for self determination. Now women are strong minded and have learned to make decisions for themselves when it comes to certain things. As people know its important for Muslim women to wear the veil, i started wearing it when i was 14. When i started high school i realized that i didn't know why i was truly wearing it or for who i was doing this and from that day till now i don't wear it i do respect it but i know for a fact that i will wear it one day.
Besides your culture other things that express your identity are objects and the environment your surrounded by. Technology also describes my identity. As this is the 21st century many people are exploring the fact that technology is becoming useful and better, and so technology is a part of my identity it is the concept of my generation. Now almost everything is done on the computer and this is where facebook comes in which today is one of the most used networks where people are logged in for hours. I like facebook as well and use it a lot. I have many interests, likes, and dislikes and food and music are some of them. Everybody loves to eat and listen to music so do I. People living in new york are aware of many different cultures, which is an advantage so they can eat whatever they want, this is why i love living in new york and also because of the mighty city. For my future i don't know what i want to do but one thing is for sure that i want to travel the world and do things that i was afraid to do or never had a chance to do them. I know there will be humongous changes in my life but i hope they all turn out to be good. For now this is my identity and a reflection of who i am or where i come from, lets see what the future has planned for me.

Nida
My generation can be defined through many things but mostly it is technology. People are evolving around it. Life for people is much more easier now. By going on the computer they can do many things like read magazines, a book or simply contact their relatives who live far away. I feel that now people are becoming aware and concerned. In my generation people understand the use and importance of technology and have proved it by inventing useful tools like ipod and laptops. I think people in my generation have accomplished many things especially with technology. Now people are looking for a fresh start which is change. Best example of that would be Obama becoming president. People in my generation have come so far with technology I wonder what tools will be invented in the next generation.
